Renee Therese Debut Album
I am excited to say that I am off to Auckland on May 27th to begin work in the recording studio for my debut album. I have a whole lot of new songs and I can’t wait for everyone to hear them. Last year in January was my first experience in a professional recording studio. I went with the intention of recording one song, and was lucky enough to whack out three songs in the time frame instead, which no doubt you have heard by now.
Last time I went to the recording studio, I hadn’t quite decided what kind of artist I wanted to be or what kind of songs I wanted to produce. I chose to record three different styles to show a variation in what I can do. I have learnt a lot since then about myself as a songwriter and musician and how to be more prepared to maximise my studio time accordingly next time. This album will include more consistent songs, which kind of give an overall sense of who I am as a singer and recording artist and what genre I fit with.
I am prepared that my music will not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, I have to stay true to myself regardless of what others think and just go where my inspiration, passion and enthusiasm is taking me.It seems that everyone else seems to have a very good idea of what kind of music I should make, but at the end of the day, it is me who has to see this through so I am sticking to my guns. I see myself as a pop artist. Sorry to my many bandy friends but I really am not a rock chick haha. I did the rock thing for a while and enjoyed it (as I enjoy all music), but it is not me. Sorry to my karaoke buds but I am not an R & B Hip hop chick. I love to sing those songs, but it just isn’t the kind of music I write. I am happy with what I am doing, and that is all that matters to me.
Anyone who knows me well knows that I truly love all genres of music. I listen to metal, hip hop, rap, pop, classical, opera…etc and I go on. I respect music and even when something is not my favourite type of music, I can always find something I like about it. I like it because I like it and not because someone tells me that this artist is cool or not cool etc. Hopefully others will feel the same about my music too.
Anyway, I have raised $3000 to begin recording. I need a total of $10,000 approximately. I am currently fundraising on a site called Pledge Me. I need to raise $4000 by June 30th. Basically people click on an amount they would like to donate and choose a reward to receive in return for their bid. I will list and thank all the wonderful people who are donating to my cause here on my blog at the end of each week. If you would like to pre-order my album, you can do that here too. It costs $20 if you live in Palmerston North or $25 to have it posted out NZ wide. These people will be receiving the CD quite a bit before it is released publicly. However, the way that Pledge Me works, is that people’s credit cards are only charged if I meet my target. If I don’t, then I don’t receive any money, no one pays, and no one receives the rewards. At this stage I only have 2 pledges. If you wish to sponsor my album, please click here https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/Crowd/Details/1043.
Thanks to all the beautiful people out there supporting me and my dream, especially my awesome husband and children. Lots of sacrifices have to be made on my account and I love them dearly.
Have a great day,
Renee
